On Wednesday a few of our Pasifika students represented South Otago High School in the Otago Pasifika Voices Speech festival.
In the juniors competition we had Florima Mautoatasi Pati and Puna Aila- Numia- their theme was "Preserving Pasifika culture in a globalized world" and Yvonne Vuni in the Seniors comp which had "The rich tapestry of Pasifika contributions; building bridges and fostering understanding" as the theme. Leisarah Anthony Kosena and Kevin Esera- Natia entered the Mother Tongue section. We were up against some big and mighty schools from the Otago region and it was a tough competition however, we did not come home empty handed. Florima Mautoatasi Pati placed 2nd overall in the Junior competition and Leisarah came 1st in the Mother Tongue Section while Kevin placed 3rd. A big well done to all the students who participated in the competition. Your hard work has really paid off! Malo le finau!
