Wellbeing: Student Support
There are a number of supports for students (and parents/whanau ) as they transition out of school. Recently the school received some information about the Employment Service in Schools, this is a relatively new service and it is worth sharing some information that may be of interest. I have also attached the referral form for reference.
Employment Service in Schools
Employment Service in Schools (ESiS) is a service for Year 12 and 13 secondary school students with a disability or health condition, including mental health condition or neurodiversity.
The service aims to assist students, their family or whānau, and school plan for their future post-school, and explore job and career opportunities.
How it works
This service is for students in the last two years of secondary schooling who face barriers to employment due to disability or learning support. This can include:
- neurodiversity, disabilities or learning support needs
- health conditions
- engagement, wellbeing or mental health related needs.
ESiS provides students with a local employment provider who has expertise in preparing students for employment through skill development and work experience or job trials. This adds to the support available through the school. With the help of whānau and school staff, students chose a local provider that would best work for them.
