On the weekend Dunedin hosted the NZ track and field champs. There were over 700 athletes competing in this competition and featured some Olympians such as Tom Walsh, Zoe Hobbs and Hamish Kerr. The weather provided some challenging conditions.

Miss Beattie was competing in the open women’s discus with a strong field. Coming into this competition she was ranked 2nd in NZ. Miss Beattie ended up getting a silver medal and throwing 48.12 meters and was 1 meter off her personal best.
